World Cup of Hockey gets underway tomorrow
Hockey starved fans across the country will finally have a remedy starting tomorrow. The World Cup of Hockey kicks off with Canada’s first test coming against the Czech Republic
Team Canada is obviously one of the favourites to win the short tournament. But they’ve been bit with the injury bug, having lost Tyler Seguin earlier this week with a nagging, yet healing, ankle injury he realized he couldn’t hide any more. “When you lose a top-six guy like that who brought enormous speed and obviously one of the best, young players in the NHL, but if Canada can stay healthy, they will be the team to beat,”
However, Dhaliwal cautions Canadian fans will need to keep an eye on Team Sweden. “They’ve got the Sedin twins, they’ve got Loui Eriksson — that’s their top line, but their blueline is absolutely loaded and they’ve got Henrik Lundqvist in net.”
He adds the one team we might be secretly cheering for is the North America squad, which is filled with players aged 23 and under.
The tournament runs from September 17th to October 1st. All the games will be played at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto
